Before you start
- Confirm your current NABP e-Profile is up to date and active
- Identify whether the target state uses the MPJE or its own jurisprudence exam (California and Arkansas use their own)
- Confirm your NAPLEX score and license history are available for transfer via eLTP if applicable
- Check whether the target state has any additional state-specific application forms or attestations
- Note the target state’s typical processing timeline so you can plan around it
Documentation to gather
- Government-issued photo ID
- Proof of current, active license(s) in other states
- Official transcript(s) from your pharmacy program, if requested
- Verification of internship/intern hours, if the state requests this separately from your original licensing state
- Any required background check or fingerprinting documentation
- Proof of malpractice insurance, if the state or your intended employer requires it
Exam and fee steps
- Register for the jurisprudence exam (MPJE or state-specific) and schedule a test date
- Confirm the application fee amount and accepted payment method for the target state
- Track whether the jurisprudence exam fee is separate from the application fee
- Set a reminder for exam score reporting timelines
After submitting
- Confirm the application was received (many boards provide online status tracking)
- Track the license issuance date once approved
- Note the new state’s renewal cycle length and first renewal date immediately upon licensure
- Note the new state’s CE requirements — hours, mandatory topics, and reporting mechanism
- Add the new state’s board contact information to your records for future reference
